Eagles Receive AP Vote, Ranked 2nd in FCS Poll

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Eagles were honored with an AP Poll vote following their ninth Southern Conference Title and 31-10 win over Wofford. Georgia Southern became just the eighth FCS football program to receive the honor since the AP allowed votes to be cast on FCS teams in 2007.

The Eagles joined Appalachian State and Eastern Washington as the only FCS teams to have received a vote in the national poll in that period.

Georgia Southern (9-1, 7-1) also moved up to number three in the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS poll and jumped to second in the FCS Coaches Poll this week.

The Eagles wraps up the regular season at the BCS' number-three ranked team. Kickoff  against the Alabama Crimson Tide is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. est and the game will air on ESPN3 outside of the state of Alabama.
