STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Basketball closes out a two-game homestand on Monday, January 31st, against Davidson at Hanner Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. The Wildcats snapped a four-game skid on Saturday night by upending College of Charleston 75-64. The Eagles will look to snap a nine-game skid and win their first game over Davidson since the 2006-07 season. The Georgia Southern Radio Network will have live coverage on 102.9 FM and GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com/Eaglevision starting at 6:30 p.m.
Monday's game is Habitat For Humanity Night at Hanner Fieldhouse. At the door, donations will be accepted to support the building of a new home in Bulloch County. For halftime entertainment, there will be a faculty vs. student basketball game featuring Georgia Southern professors against Eagle student-athletes.
The Eagles (4-18, 0-9 SoCon) are led by Ben Drayton III (St. Marys, Ga.) with 15.5 points per game from his point guard position. He needs just 25 points to become the 37th member of the 1,000 point club at Georgia Southern. Freshman Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.) is continuing to build on one of the best freshman years in school history with 13.7 points per game. Senior Rory Spencer (Atlanta, Ga.) is also scoring in double-figures with 11.0 points per game to go along with 26 blocks. Spencer is also GSU's top rebounder with 6.1 boards per game.
Monday's game is the 31st all-time meeting between Davidson and Georgia Southern. The Eagles trail 24-6 in the series and have lost the last eight meetings despite scaring the Wildcats on their home floor last season.
Davidson (9-12, 3-7 SoCon) snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday night with an 75-64 upset win over College of Charleston after trailing by nine at the break. Nik Cochran scored 21 points off the bench to lead the Wildcats. This year, Davidson has been led by Jake Cohen's 13.0 points per game, followed by JP Kuhlman with 12.7 points per game.
Head coach Charlton "C.Y." Young leads the Eagles in his second year in charge of his alma mater's program. Young led Georgia Southern to its last NCAA Tournament appearance and with 1,517 career points ranks 11th on the all-time Georgia Southern scoring list.
Davidson head coach Bob McKillop is in his 22nd season with the Wildcats and holds a 392-260 career record.
The Eagles take to the road for a Wednesday (Feb. 3) game against Chattanooga starting at 7 p.m. GSU will then return home to play host to Samford on Saturday, Feb. 5th, starting at 1 p.m. The game, broadcast live on SportSouth, will be the sixth-annual "Pack the House in Pink" date in support of breast cancer awareness.
