STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Women's Tennis Head Coach Amy Bonner announced the signing of two student-athletes who will enroll at the University and play for the Eagles. Cameron Williams and Alexis Prickett will begin their collegiate careers this fall.
"I am very pleased with this year's early signing class," Bonner commented. "I know that Alexis and Cameron will both make an immediate impact on our team. They are not only great tennis players but great students and people. I know they will fit in well with the team and will help contribute to the goals of this program."
Williams (Norcross, Ga.), a four-year letter winner at Norcross High School, plays No. 1 singles for the Blue Devils. She was named All-Conference and Super Six for Gwinnett County, and received the Gwinnett County Coaches Award.
Twice named to the Prince Hot 100 (February 2008 and July 2010), Williams has earned a ranking as high as 218th nationally. She ranks 15th in the state of Georgia and is 68th in the Southern Region.
Prickett, from Charleston, S.C., owns a 65-2 overall record at the high school level and led Wando High School to its fifth-straight championship. She was named the 4A All-State Player of the Year as a junior. A recent TennisRecruiting.net Five-Star Recruit, she ranked as high as No. 36.
Previously, Prickett helped guide her South Carolina Southern Cup Team to a second-place Silver Finish and defeated the No. 5 player in the nation.
A National Honor Society and Honor Council member, she boasts a 4.5 GPA and is a member of the Beta Club. Prickett is the granddaughter of South Carolina Hall of Fame Quarterback Mackie Prickett and has one sister, Lauren, who played tennis at Wofford.
