STATESBORO, Ga. -- Head Cheerleading Coach Barry Munkasy announced the selection of the 2010-2011 Georgia Southern Cheerleading Teams today (May 19). Twenty-two women were selected for the All-Girl Squad which cheers at all Eagle home football and men's and women's basketball games. Seven men and seven women will comprise the Coed Squad. The Coed team cheers at home and away football games as well as at Georgia Southern's men's and women's basketball games in Hanner Fieldhouse.

"By far, this year was the most difficult in terms of making cuts," said Barry Munkasy, now in his 11th season with Georgia Southern. "Each year, the competition for spots gets tougher as we gain more of a reputation as a premier program. This is a coveted position and if for any reason someone decides not to serve in this role, the position will be filled with a qualified individual."

If your name appears below you must email Dr. Munkasy (GSUCheer@GeorgiaSouthern.edu) with your acceptance of the position. Acceptance of the position triggers your obligations to Georgia Southern Cheerleading as outlined in the Rules and Regulations distributed at tryouts. If Dr. Munkasy doesn't hear from these individuals in the next 24 hours or so, or individuals decline, he will quickly move to fill the spot.

Georgia Southern's All-Girl Cheerleading Squad took second place at the 2010 National Cheerleaders Association/National Dance Alliance (NCA/NDA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Coed squad, which made its first appearance in the finals, placed fourth. In 2008, the All-Girl Squad won the NCA/NDA National Championship.
