Chance Allshouse Named Associate AD for Development

Michael Ellis promoted to same role

STATESBORO - Chance Allshouse has been named an Associate Director of Athletics for Development and Michael Ellis has been promoted to Associate Director of Athletics for Development, moving from the annual fund to a major gift officer, as announced Tuesday by the Georgia Southern Department of Athletics.

Allshouse joins the Georgia Southern Athletics Department from Rice, where he worked since October 2022. Allshouse began as a Development Assistant, was promoted in July 2023 to Assistant Director of Annual Giving, where he served for two years, before being elevated to Director of Major Gifts in June 2025.

"I am honored to join Georgia Southern University and work alongside the talented team within the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation, as well as our dedicated staff across the department and throughout the university," Allshouse said. "There is tremendous pride and passion, and I am fired up and excited to help strengthen our relationships with donors, alumni, and partners to enhance the student-athlete experience. I am deeply appreciative to Chris Davis and Terry Harvin for the opportunity to serve and be part of this community. I look forward to connecting with our devoted supporters, proud alumni, and everyone who makes this such an exceptional place."

As Director of Major Gifts, Allshouse was responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts in support of Rice Athletics. Allshouse worked closely with high-capacity donors, alumni and supporters to secure gifts that directly impact the student-athlete experience.

Allshouse assisted the Owl Club to a record-breaking 1,800 donors in FY24 and played a pivotal role in two of Rice Athletics' most successful fundraising events—Night of Flight and An Evening for Rice's Honour—which raised more than $550,000 combined. He also helped create, design and execute the department's 24-Hour Challenge campaigns, generating $276,000 in FY24 and $300,000 in FY25.

From 2022 through his departure in 2025, Allshouse contributed to significant year-over-year growth in both donor participation and dollars raised, which has expanded philanthropic support during the university's transition to the American Athletic Conference.

He was a member of the men's track and field team at Rice University, competing in the decathlon and earned his degree in sport management in May of 2022.

Words From Terry Harvin, Deputy AD for Development:
"We're excited to welcome Chance to the Georgia Southern family. His experience at Rice and his proven track record in building meaningful donor relationships will help elevate our major gifts program to new heights. Chance's energy, professionalism and belief in what it means to be part of Eagle Nation will make an immediate impact on our team and our mission."

"Michael has been instrumental in our growth and success since joining the team. His ability to connect with people, build trust and inspire generosity embodies what Georgia Southern Athletics is all about. This promotion is well deserved, and we're excited for the continued impact he'll have in this new leadership role."
