Baseball Travels to No. 3 Georgia Tech for Pair of Midweek Games

STATESBORO, Ga. – Riding a six-game win streak and coming off the only recorded sweep over Samford this season, Georgia Southern travels to third-ranked Georgia Tech for a pair of midweek contests. The series begins on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and concludes on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. matchup at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Georgia Tech (31-5, 15-3 ACC) enters the series coming off a sweep of No. 16 Clemson and took both decisions over Georgia Southern (21-15, 12-6 SoCon) earlier this season.

The non-conference foes met earlier this season with the Yellow Jackets taking both decisions by scores of 10-0 and 8-5 at J.I. Clements Stadium. GT now leads the all-time series 84-27 and are 46-14 when hosting the Eagles.
The last meeting at Russ Chandler Stadium occurred in 2009 with the teams splitting the two-game series. The Eagles took game two by a 23-3 score.
Scouting the Opponent
The Jackets have won nine of their past 11 contests and are coming off a three-game sweep over Clemson. GT looks to improve to 8-1 against in-state opponents hosting the Eagles for a two-game set.
In conference play, Georgia Tech holds the best record (15-3) and leads the league in hitting and is second in pitching. Mark Pope, Tech's midweek starter, is a perfect 5-0 and has struck out 44 batters, while walking just three in six starts.
The Tech bullpen is 8-1 on the year, and 6-6 in save situations. The Jackets have homered in 15 straight games and 23 of their last 24.
Senior first baseman Tony Plagman has been named one of the 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Plagman is currently batting .385 with 13 home runs.
