Eagles Welcome Ospreys in Midweek Matchup

STATESBORO, Ga. – Coming off a Southern Conference series sweep of UNC Greensboro, Georgia Southern is set to play host to North Florida in a mid-week non-conference matchup on Tuesday (March 30). To close out the month of March, first pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium.

GSU – Justin Hess, RHP, Fr. (0-0, 0.84 ERA)
UNF – John Atteo, LHP, Sr. (2-1, 5.68 ERA)
Broadcast Information
Every Georgia Southern baseball game will be carried live on the Georgia Southern Radio Network. In his fourth year, Ryan Chambers will call the play-by-play throughout the season. The broadcast begins 30 minutes prior to the scheduled first pitch on WPMX 102.9 FM. The Series
Georgia Southern and North Florida will meet for the eighth time in program history on Tuesday and the second of the 2010 season. The Eagles hold the 5-2 all-time series advantage, but will look to avenge a 14-3 loss in Jacksonville for the first road game of the series this season back on March 2.
Scouting the Opponent
North Florida (14-12) enters the non-conference matchup after splitting a doubleheader with Campbell, but took the series, 2-1. The Ospreys needed extra innings to complete the series, but managed to pull out a 5-4 victory over the Camels in game three.
Last Time Out
Strong pitching led Georgia Southern (14-11) to record its first conference series sweep of the season taking three games from UNC Greensboro over the weekend. UNCG held a 3-0 advantage in the opening game with a strong third inning, but the Eagles picked up a run in the fifth before Kyle Blackburn (Marietta, Ga.) belted his first of three home runs in the series in the sixth to tie the game. Left-handed pitcher Jake Brown (Forest Hill, Md.) threw his second complete game of the season and third of his career for the win Friday night.
GS took game one, 6-4 and posted four insurance runs in the eighth of game two to seal an 8-3 victory on Saturday. Matt Murray (Spring City, Pa.) threw 7.0 complete innings with Dexter Bobo (Cumming, Ga.) and Colin Snow (Alpharetta, Ga.) splitting the last two innings.
Andy Moye (Alpharetta, Ga.) led the Eagles to their first shutout since 2007, shutting down the Spartans 12-0. Moye recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts facing 30 batters and allowed no walks in 8.0 innings.
Moye Named Pitcher of the Week
Junior right-hander Andy Moye was named the Southern Conference 'Pitcher of the Week' for March 22-28 as announced the league office Monday. Moye closed out the first conference series sweep for Georgia Southern this season on Sunday against UNC Greensboro.
Moye led the Eagles to its first shutout since 2007 by throwing 8.0 flawless innings against the Spartans in a 12-0 win. The junior matched his career-high in innings pitched while striking out a career-high 13 batters.
Moye scattered five hits and had excellent control by not surrendering a walk the entire day. The Spartans put runners on second base in the first, third, fifth and eighth innings, but Moye never allowed a runner to reach third, as he improved to 3-2 on the season.
Restaurant Night
Restaurant Night will take place at J.I. Clements Stadium before the North Florida contest on Tuesday. Chick-fil-A, Moe's Southwest Grill, Papa John's Pizza and Sonny's BBQ will be on site beginning at 5 p.m. for fans to sample food from each restaurant.
