Benedict, Wright Begin Pro Baseball Career

EUGENE, Ore. - Former Georgia Southern Baseball players Griffin Benedict and Ty Wright will begin their professional baseball careers this weekend. Both are reporting to the Eugene Emeralds, the rookie league affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

Benedict was drafted in the 16th round while Wright was selected in the 25th. The Emeralds will open Northwest League play on Saturday night against Salem-Keizer.
