Everett Teaford Promoted to Double-A

SPRINGDALE, Ark. ? Former Georgia Southern Baseball standout Everett Teaford was promoted over the weekend to the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals and will make his debut on Monday night (June 15). Teaford's first start on the mound will come against the Tulsa Drillers.
The former First Team All-Southern Conference pitcher is in his fourth year with the Kansas City Royals organization.
Teaford ranked among the Carolina League leaders posting a 7-1 record and 2.39 ERA. In his 11 starts this season, Teaford has struck out 49 in 64 innings pitched to just 12 walks allowed. The left-hander won his last two starts at Wilmington allowing just two runs on nine hits in 13 innings, striking out 11 to three walks.
A 12th round selection in the 2006 draft, the left-hander was twice named to the Carolina League All-Star team. In 2008 Teaford won the Carolina League's inaugural Matt Minker Award, which goes to the player who best exemplifies the former Wilmington owner's benevolence for the city and her people. He also received the Royals' organization Mike Sweeney Award - recognizing a player who best represents the organization on and off the field. He was part of every hospital appearance, every baseball camp and every outside event that involved a Blue Rocks player in 2008.
Teaford finished his three-year career with the Eagles ranked eighth all-time with 26 wins. He still remains sixth all-time in games started (48), seventh in innings pitched (348.1) and second in strikeouts (353). Teaford's 122 strikeouts in 2006 still rank as the sixth-highest total by a Georgia Southern pitcher.
