Softball Returns Home to Face Jacksonville Tuesday

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern softball (6-7) is set to face Jacksonville (8-9) in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Eagle Field.
The Eagles are looking to get back into the win column after dropping a doubleheader in Atlanta, Ga. to Georgia State last Wednesday. Megen Smith (Springfield, Ga.) made her 2009 debut against Georgia State and went four for seven with two RBIs at the plate, while pitching four-plus innings in the series.
Georgia Southern also set a new season high with 16 hits in game two of the doubleheader.
Amanda Hall (Haddock, Ga.) leads the team in multi-hit and multi-RBI games. She is batting .381 with one home run and 11 RBIs in the early going. Hall also made her first career start in the outfield and played center field in both games of the doubleheader as the Eagles used their 11th different starting outfield combination in 13 games this season.
The Eagles continue to lead the Southern Conference in win percentage (.461), batting average (.302) and slugging percentage (.457).
Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga.) continues to impress in the circle and ranks sixth in the SoCon with a 2.70 ERA.
Jacksonville brings a five-game winning streak to Statesboro after going undefeated in the JU Invitational over the weekend.
The Dolphins are led on offense by Katie Kelly. She sports a .431 batting average in 17 starts this season.
Sarah Sigrest has been a workhorse for Jacksonville on the rubber. Sigrest has a 2.05 ERA in 12 appearances and has allowed only 18 runs in 58 innings pitched.
Softball will hit the road Thursday for Jacksonville, Fla. and will face North Florida at the UNF Softball Complex. First pitch of the doubleheader against the Ospreys is slated for 4 p.m.
