2nd Annual Little Eagles Baseball Camp Another Success

STATESBORO, Ga. ? For the second year the Little Eagles Baseball Camp proved to be a great success as more than 100 kids attended the event, held Saturday morning (Feb. 14) at J.I. Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University.
The 2009 Eagles squad worked six different stations, ranging from: hitting in the cages, pitching with reads off the radar gun, hitting on the field and running the bases, playing wiffleball, catching flyballs and fielding grounders. Eagle baseball players supervised each station and interacted with the kids throughout the course of the free clinic.
Senior catcher Griffin Benedict enjoyed the morning as much as the kids did. “It's always fun to get out here - everyone's having a good time, and its best to see the kids when their having fun. That's really why we're out here,” said the Third Team Preseason All-America.
“It's going well, we've got a lot of young kids and the best part is seeing the smiles on their faces when they get out here,” said junior catcher Randy Williams.
Following the camp, all participants received a bag of Georgia Southern items, in addition to posters and schedule cards that were signed by the team when they sat down for an autograph session.
“We've had a great day and we've been very fortunate that the weather's held off for us despite the threat of rain. I think we've had a great turn out,” said head coach Rodney Hennon. “The kids are having fun and I think our guys are having just about as much fun as the kids are.”
