Swimming & Diving Team Returns to Action Saturday at North Florida

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern swimming & diving team (5-7) looks to get back in the win column against North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
The Lady Eagles lost a close match at home last Saturday, however, Courtney Martz (Woodbine, Ga.) was named swimmer of the week and Katie Creighton (Snellville, Ga.) was named diver of the week.
Martz had an outstanding day of competition setting pool records in two events. She won the 50 freestyle and set a new pool record with a time of 24.10. Martz also finished third in the 100 yard free.
She was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay team that placed first with a time of 3:34.60 and set a new pool record in the event. Other relay members include Caroline Bevillard (Bishop, Ga.), Ali Campbell (Ft. McMurray, Alberta) and Katelyn Woolfolk (Satellite Beach, Fla.).
The day was also a good one on the boards as Creighton finished first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 227.02 and second in the 1-meter dive with a mark of 199.50.
The North Florida Ospreys (5-2) are coming off their second only dual meet loss this season. They lost 149-138 to UNC-Wilmington on January 3rd.
The Ospreys brought in eight first place finishes but were unable to top the Seahawks.
The Lady Eagles will return home for Senior Day next Saturday against Campbell at noon.
