STATESBORO, Ga. ? For the second consecutive week, Georgia Southern University's Chris Shehan (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) was named the Southern Conference ?Player of the Week'. Shehan led the Eagles to a 4-0 mark last week, including a sweep to start league play.
Shehan hit .579 (11-of-19) over the past four contests with seven runs scored and 11 RBI. He posted a .842 slugging and .636 on-base percentage. Shehan recorded nine of his 11 RBI against Western Carolina, batting .643 in the sweep of the Catamounts. He hit his second career grand slam and scored six run in the series. During game two he drove in a career-high seven runs.
Overall the junior right fielder leads the Eagles (14-8 overall, 3-0 SoCon) with: a .466 batting average, 33 runs scored, nine doubles, nine home runs, 37 RBI, .898 slugging percentage, 19 walks and .577 on-base percentage.
Georgia Southern will take the week off before resuming SoCon play at the College of Charleston this weekend. First pitch on Friday night (March 28) is scheduled for 6 p.m.
