Jack Stallings on Ballot for College Baseball Hall of Fame

The ballot to select this year's inductees features 54 players and 19 coaches. Ballot-eligible coaches for the College Baseball's third Hall of Fame induction class must have achieved 300 wins or won at least 65 percent of their games. To be eligible for the College Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, players must have completed one year of competition at a four-year institution and made an All-American team (post-1947) or an All-League team (pre-1947) and or earned verifiable national acclaim.
Stallings, the winningest coach in Georgia Southern baseball history, not only had his jersey retired, but in February 2005 was also honored by having the playing field at J.I. Clements Stadium named after him. His #1 is just the second jersey ever retired in the Eagles' baseball program. In 24 years in charge of the Eagles he posted an 858-581-5 record and trip to the 1990 College World Series. Stallings won 1,257 games in 39 seasons as a head coach.
A 2004 inductee into the GS Athletics Department Hall of Fame, Stallings ranks 13th among the NCAA all-time Division I leaders for victories.
The members of the 2008 College Baseball Hall of Fame class will be announced in late February or early March once all the ballots have been tallied and the results verified.

"Each person on the ballot was a truly exceptional college baseball player."

"It's always exciting for us to get to honor the very best in the history of college baseball."
