STATESBORO, Ga. --- Former Georgia Southern men's basketball player Jimmy Tobias has signed a pro contract with Romanian team CSU Brasov.
Tobias (2005-07) becomes the second former GSU player to sign a pro contract in the last month, joining Donte Gennie (2003-07) who inked a deal with German outfit Phoenix Hagen.
Tobias, a Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native, joins his brother, Brandon, a former UAB standout, in Brasov. In 61 games, Tobias averaged 8.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, and totaled 78 assists and 71 steals. He missed just one start in his GSU career.
He entered the Georgia Southern record books with a 10-of-11 shooting performance for a career-high 22 points on Dec. 12, 2006 against Flagler. His shooting percentage of 90.9% is second-best all-time.
Last season CSU Brasov finished 13th in Romania's Division A.
