Tim Kaine

Tim Kaine joins the Georgia Southern staff for the 2014-15 season after working as an assistant coach for the last 12 years, including the last six seasons at Florida Atlantic. While working for Mike Jarvis at FAU, Kaine helped the Owls post the program’s first Sun Belt Regular Season Championship and an appearance in the 2011 NIT with a 21-win season.

He was voted as one of the Sun Belt’s best recruiters by recruitdirt.com and helped the Owls land their first High School Parade All-American as well as the program’s first ESPN Top-150 player. For his career, he has two NCAA Tournament Appearances, an NIT berth as well as a pair of regular season conference championships and two conference tournament championships.

Kaine was added to the FAU men's basketball staff before the 2008-09 season after helping Winthrop University, his alma mater, win its fourth-straight Big South Conference Championship in 2008. Serving as Winthrop's Director of Basketball Operations in 2007-08, Kaine was able to build on previous coaching experience gained from stops at Austin Peay State University, Newberry College, Guilford College and Northwestern High School.

A 2002 graduate of Winthrop with a degree in Sport Management, Kaine went on to earn his Master’s degree in Sports Administration in 2003 from Austin Peay. A native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Kaine is the godson of Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski. He is married to Jenny and has a one-year old daughter, Tory.
