2018-19: Played in four games, starting one … Was on the field for 18 offensive snaps … Started the season as an offensive linemen, but played both line and tight end late in the season … Played five offensive snaps against South Carolina State … Was on the field for three plays against UMass … Played five snaps at Coastal Carolina … Got the start in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl as he moved to a blocking tight end … Played five snaps in the bowl game … Made the Dean’s List in the fall for posting above a 3.5 GPA … Made the President’s List in the spring for a perfect 4.0 GPA.

2017-18: Was redshirted … Made the Honor Roll in the fall and the Dean’s List in the spring.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Rabun County High for Coach Lee Shaw … A two-time GACA all-state selection for the 2AA level … Also wrestled, taking second in the state in 2016 and third in 2014.

PERSONAL: Born Peyton Eric Backer on May 5 in Clarksville, GA … Son of Ryan and Shelly Backer … Has two siblings, Drew and Brett.
