Dear Eagle Nation,
Welcome to November, better known as "Crossover Season" in Collegiate Athletics. There's a lot going on, and as always, it's a great time to be a Georgia Southern Eagle!
Our football team delivered a rivalry win over App State last Saturday as we picked up our third win over the Mountaineers in less than 365 days and ran our win streak against them to four games, tying the longest streak in series history. It was Coach Clay Helton's fifth win against App—the most for an Eagle football head coach—and our seniors now have five wins for their careers and can say no Georgia Southern player in program history has more wins against App.
With the win, we now lead the East and are playing meaningful games in November, which is always our goal. Now, we turn our attention to an exciting opportunity this Saturday as we welcome Marshall to Statesboro for Homecoming and another big Sun Belt Conference matchup at 3:30 p.m.
I want to thank our students and fans for all their support so far this season. We need you to continue this momentum the rest of the season, as you truly are the difference in Paulson Stadium and show why Eagle Nation is second to none.
There's no better time to COME HOME! Homecoming is about more than a football game. It's about reconnecting with friends, celebrating our traditions and showing what makes Eagle Nation so special. We need you in the stands, bringing the energy and helping create an atmosphere that makes Paulson Stadium one of the toughest places to play in the country. Make your plans, wear your blue and white, and COME HOME this Saturday!
We are pushing hard to sell out Paulson and we need your help! We launched the much-requested "Sellout Tracker" through all of our media platforms this afternoon and we will provide three updates a day to show our progress TOGETHER. Spread the word and let's show why the Power of Paulson is real. You can purchase tickets at GSEagles.com/tickets.
It was awesome to recognize head coach Chad Willis as the winningest coach in Georgia Southern Volleyball history in front of Eagle Nation at Paulson Stadium with his team around him. The team continues to play well and can make history by clinching the Sun Belt East Division this week as they host Georgia State on Thursday and Friday at Hanner Fieldhouse. It's Senior Night on Thursday, which we all know is when our weekends begin around here (thanks, Erk!). Come Pack Hanner and celebrate the accomplishments of this team and the senior class.
Our men's and women's golf programs both won tournaments this fall that both featured very competitive fields while rifle beat the #1 team in the country at home a few weeks ago here in the Boro. Our men's soccer team once again qualified for the upcoming Sun Belt Championship and will take on West Virginia on Sunday in Morgantown to open things up.
Basketball season has also arrived. Our men's team tipped off Monday with an exciting win over Ball State in the Sun Belt/MAC Challenge in an electric opening-game atmosphere. You can catch our women's team in Macon on Thursday as they take on Mercer and the men play in Atlanta on Friday against Georgia Tech.
And don't forget, next Monday is a special night in The Hill as our women's basketball team hosts Savannah State for its home opener. There, we will recognize a tremendous accomplishment by unveiling the banner honoring our 2025-26 Sun Belt Regular Season Championship. It's a moment worth celebrating, and I hope you'll be there to share it with everyone at The Hill as Coach Heather Macy coaches her first game in Statesboro.
As I mentioned earlier, we are officially in "Crossover Season" at Georgia Southern, when the excitement of our fall sports overlaps with the start of our winter sports seasons. From football, soccer and volleyball to basketball, rifle and everything in between, there is so much happening across our athletics department. Our student-athletes are competing, representing this University and giving us plenty of reasons to be proud.
With so many events and opportunities to support our Eagles, I encourage you to get out and attend as many as you can. Your support matters. Whether you're cheering in Paulson Stadium, filling The Hill, following our teams on the road, or proudly wearing your Eagle gear in your community, you are an important part of what makes Georgia Southern Athletics special. Remember, you can always purchase tickets through GSEagles.com/Tickets.
Finally, I hope all student-athlete alumni are able to participate in our first Letterwinners Challenge. I'd encourage you to visit the Challenge's home page for more details on this exciting new competition between our programs. Remember, your support directly affects the program you helped lay the foundation for.
Thank you for your continued passion, pride and support. We have a lot to look forward to, and I can't wait to see you around our venues in the weeks ahead.
Hail Southern and G.A.T.A.!
