FIFTH YEAR (2022): Thompson was the only player to start all 61 games that the Eagles played in 2022 … Batted .259 and posted a .455 slugging percentage, the highest in his career … Also posted career highs in homer runs (10), RBI (41), and on-base percentage (.349) … Led the Eagles in putout assists with 174.

SENIOR (2021): Started and appeared in 52 games this season... Tallied 56 hits and scored 33 runs for the Eagles... Collected 12 doubles and hit five home runs this season... Drove in 34 RBIs and walked 19 times... Had a career-high slugging percentage of .427 in 2021... 

JUNIOR (2020): Appeared in 16 games, starting in 15… Posted a .255 batting average, scoring nine runs… Collected three doubles, one triple and drove in three RBIs… Walked six times this season… Posted a .986 fielding percentage at shortstop, making only one error in 69 attempts… 

SOPHOMORE (2019): Played and started in all 59 games...Led the team in at bats with 239 hitting .251...Posted 60 hits, 41 runs, six home runs and 32 RBIs...Was successful on 12 of 15 stolen base attempts...In a 7-5 victory over No. 15 Auburn, Thompson went 3-6 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a home run.  

FRESHMAN (2018): Started and played in 30 games at shortstop… Missed 26 games between late February and early April with an injury… Returned from injury and went 5-for-13 in his first weekend of league play at South Alabama… Finished the year at .298/.341/.347… Drove in 21 runs while scoring 16 times… Went 4-for-6 stealing bases… Hit three doubles with one coming in the series opener against Georgia State (5/17)… Hit first collegiate home run at South Alabama (4/13).

PREP: Played four seasons at South Effingham High School for coach Johnny DeRing… Was twice named all-state first team… Named co-player of the year as a junior and selected to Team Georgia as a junior… Graduated with honors.

PERSONAL: Austin Christopher Thompson… Born May 24, 1999 in Savannah… Son of Chris and Ginger Thompson… Has a younger sister, Anna.
