
Eagles Take Flight to Sun Belt Championship

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern women's golf begins championship week on Monday morning, competing in the Sun Belt Championship hosted by The Lakewood Golf Club's Dogwood Course, Apr. 20-24.
Lakewood Golf Club's Dogwood Course will host the 13-team field once again this season as the 54-hole competition kicks off Monday morning. Three rounds of stroke play begin the tournament, before the top four teams advance to semifinals and championship match play rounds.

- The 2022 Sun Belt Champions return to the conference tournament in 2026 after collecting three top-10 team finishes throughout the season, including a fourth-place finish in The Southern. Georgia Southern enters the week with good form, posting a season-low 290 round at the Gators Invitational.
- Junior Haven Ward and freshman Margaux Brejo are tied for the team lead this season with six rounds of even par or better after Brejo posted back-to-back rounds in her final tournament of the spring, while Ward fired consecutive rounds of under par to collect a fifth-place finish in the Valspar Augusta Invitational.
- Brejo and Ward also pace the Eagles in birdies, followed closely behind by Maddy Pytura. Brejo holds the slight advantage tallying 58, while Ward posts 57 and Pytura collected 50 entering the championship season.
