HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After two quick outs to start the opening frame, a solo homer from USA's Puckett gave the Jaguars a quick lead on his sixth homer of the year.
- Bryson Trammell and Brady Christman had back-to-back singles to start the Eagle second, but both were stranded after three quick outs, including a swinging bunt that the Jaguars got the lead runner on.
- Will Holder got his second strikeout of the night to cap off a 1-2-3 inning in the South Alabama third.
- The Jaguars added on another run in their fourth after taking three walks and a hit batter. Thankfully, a foul fly out down the left field line stranded the bags full for South Alabama.
- The Eagles tied the ball game up with one swing of the bat, as after a leadoff single from Sean White, Trammell turned on a pitch for just his second homer of the year to right field, making it 2-2.
- After an error from Senese eventually made it runners on the corner with two away, the Eagle third baseman made a diving play at third to save a run and shut down the inning.
- The Jaguars took the lead in the top of the sixth after a leadoff single and a bunt single to start the frame. After a bunt put both in scoring position, two groundouts would end the inning but bring the leading run back in, 3-2.
- After another quiet frame from the home squad, Southern entered into the stretch with a double play to Frank Wells at short.
- The Jaguars had their second straight inning with a double play in the Eagle seventh, as after a leadoff single from Christman, the Eagles hit into a 3-U-6 double play to extinguish the inning's flame.
- After allowing another two singles in the eighth, Brady Pendley entered in the game and immediately struck out the first two batters he saw, ending the inning and stranding two Jaguars on, their ninth and tenth of the night.
- In the last chance of the night, a leadoff strike out from the Jaguars' closer put one away on the board. Sean White singled to centerfield before advancing to second on an error before Trammell drew the first walk on the night to put two aboard.
- The next batter, on a 3-2 count, Christman banged his third hit of the night deep into the night sky in left-center field to walk it off, winning it 5-3.
NOTES:
- Christman's walk-off homer was the first by an Eagle since Jason Swan's homer in the tenth inning on March 5th, 20222 against Miami (OH).
- Pendley's fifth win of the season came in his 1.2 innings of shutout baseball, including two straight Ks to strand two Jaguars in scoring position.
- Trammell's walk in the ninth was the first base on balls taken by Southern on the night. It would have been the first contest to have not walked since April of 2024.
UP NEXT:
- The Eagles and Jaguars get set for a Saturday afternoon contest (April 11th) for Clements County Fair day at J.I. for a 2PM first pitch.
