Women's Golf Takes on Furman in Match Play Saturday

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern women's golf returns to the course on Saturday afternoon, hosting Furman for match play at Ohoopee Match Club in Cobbtown, Georgia. The Eagles enter Saturday fresh off a season low tournament in Puerto Rico, featuring back-to-back under par rounds by Haven Ward.

- The Eagles return to the course on Saturday, after posting a new season-low round at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic to open the spring a week ago. In that event, Georgia Southern, led by Haven Ward's +3 performance (71-70-78=219), posted a +28-team tally (294-293-302=889).
- Junior Haven Ward's back-to-back rounds under par in Puerto Rico were the first for the Atlanta native, posting rounds of 71 and 70 on Sunday. Earlier in the year, Ward posted second round tallies in the Boilermaker Classic (71) and The Southern (70), her two lowest rounds of the year. The junior leads the Eagles this season with 37 birdies, averaging 2.1 per round.
- Saturday's match play against Furman will be the first of two match play events for the Eagles this season, as in early April the Blue and White takes on North Florida.
- Georgia Southern returns to stroke play tournament formats on March 6-8, where they traveling to Gainesville, Florida, to compete in the Gators Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida.
- Freshman Margaux Brejo enters the second event of the spring this weekend, holding 94.4% rounds counted rate. Brejo has had her rounds tallied in 17-of-18 total tournament rounds.
