STATESBORO – Georgia Southern women's golf's Margaux Brejo competed in the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics earlier this summer, representing her home country of France, earning a silver medal at the Wakasu Golf Links.
"It was a cool experience being able to be around nearly 3,000 athletes from around the world," Brejo said. "In 2021 I was able to participate in my first Deaflympics and won in a playoff to take third in the event. The Deaflympics was the final championship I needed to compete in, since I played in the National Championship, The Open Championship, World Championship, and Olympic medal."
Brejo collected a silver medal, posting a three-over-par three-round total of 219 (73-73-73). The Fontainebleau, France native, finished two shots ahead of Canada's Erica Dawn Rivard, who finished with a five-over-par tournament total.
"We are extremely proud of Margaux for earning the Silver Medal at the Deaflympics," head coach Mimi Burke said. "Competing internationally in a new environment, while balancing school and performing at that level says a lot about her and her game. She represented Georgia Southern with class and the best is still ahead for her!"
The Deaflympics is an international "Olympics for Deaf people". This is an international multi-sport event for deaf athletes held every four years, organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD). First held in Paris, France, in 1924, the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics marked the 100th anniversary of the games and the first time they were held in Japan.
Félicitations, Margaux 🥈
