Eagles Set to Open Season in Ohio

Team takes on Ohio State and Mt. Aloysius
STATESBORO - The fifth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle squad opens its 2025-26 season on Saturday, traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to take on 12th-ranked Ohio State and Mt. Aloysius in a tri-match at the Converse Hall. Action begins at 9 a.m. with a single smallbore relay followed by a single air rifle relay.
Georgia Southern returns all seven shooters who helped lead the squad to tis fourth consecutive SoCon Championship, as well as a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Rifle Championship in its first appearance. Those seven returners are Bremen Butler, Ella Goldfaden, Zahra Gonzalez Mazon, Emma Pohlmann, Hailey Singleton, Emme Walrath and Tori Watts. The squad also welcomes newcomer Matilda Eylander, who hails from Australia.
Soren Butler returns for his fourth year as head coach and is joined on the staff by former All-Americans Abigail Gordon (TCU) and Lea Horvath (Ole Miss).
