Three Place Top-5, Women’s Golf Claims Sixth Team Title at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

Eagles earn fourth consecutive win

STATESBORO – Three Eagles finished inside the top-5 as Georgia Southern women's golf claimed its fourth consecutive win and sixth team title of the season on Wednesday afternoon at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at UGA Golf Course. 

LoraLie Cowart led the Eagles tying her career best with a runner-up finish while Louise Reau and Drive Tunwannarux finished tied for fourth. 

Cowart carded her best round in the second firing a 2-under 70 tallying three birdies in the round. Cowart moved up two spots on the leaderboard in the final round with a 1-over 73. She finished first in par 5 scoring and tied for second with nine birdies on the weekend. 

Tunwannarux fired a season-best 72-71-75 (218) to tie for fourth place. The sophomore posted an even-par 72 in the first round with a pair of birdies and bogeys. Tunwannarux carded her best round in the second tallying a 1-under 71 with four birdies on the back nine. The fourth place finish ties a career best. 

Cowart and Reau sparked the Eagles in the second round firing a 2-under 70. Cowart recorded three birdies and a bogey while Reau tallied four birdies and two bogeys in the round. The duo guided the squad to a tournament best 5-under 283 which is the second-best round of the season for the Eagles. 

Mary Miller (78-72-76) and Kelsey Chen finished inside the top 20 at 16th and 20th place, respectively. Miller finished with 33 pars and 7 birdies while Chen had 5 birdies and 35 pars. Regina Plascencia (77-77-75) finished in 31st place. 

The Eagles finished first in par 3 and par 5 scoring and total pars while carding the second-most birdies (36) in the tournament.
