Softball Falls to App State On Saturday, 10-2

Eagles move to 19-13, 3-2 SBC
BOONE, N.C. – Georgia Southern softball dropped game two of its three-game series, 10-2, in six innings against App State on Saturday at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.
Georgia Southern (19-13, 3-2 SBC) struck first in the third to take a 2-0 lead over the Mountaineers. With two outs, Kayla Christensen and Emma Davis recorded back-to-back doubles to push a pair of runs across the plate.
App State (10-19, 1-4 SBC) would go on to score 10 unanswered runs over two innings. The Mountaineers took the lead in the fifth scoring six runs on three hits to make it 6-2. A solo homer jump started the Mountaineer offense and a sacrifice fly evened the score. A grand slam would give App State the lead. The Mountaineers extended the lead in the sixth scoring a pair of runs.
Bailey Holland (4-6) suffered the loss in the circle tossing 4.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits and striking out three. Kendrick and Clifton entered in relief for an inning of work allowing seven runs on five hits.
The offense tallied just three hits in the contest off the bats of the top of the order and left four runners on base.
