MONROE, La. - Georgia Southern women's tennis picked up its first Sun Belt win of the season on Friday, defeating ULM by a 4-0 score in Monroe, La.
The Eagles improved to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the league with the victory, while the Warhawks fell to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern will wrap up its weekend of action on Sunday, playing at Arkansas State in an 11 a.m. contest from Jonesboro, Ark.
Georgia Southern claimed the doubles point with 6-1 wins from Juliette Nask and Evelyn Warkentin at No. 1 doubles and Mackenzie Leopold and Lisen Rinman at No. 2 doubles.
The Eagles then clinched the victory with three straight-set singles wins. Nanaka Kijima downed Raquel Alvaro, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles, then Amelie Rosadoro delivered a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. Rinman secured the match win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mariam Hatem at No. 1 singles.
