STATESBORO - Georgia Southern women's tennis wrapped up its extended homestand on Friday, falling 4-1 to Coastal Carolina in Sun Belt action at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The Chanticleers improve to 8-4 overall and an unbeaten 3-0 in Sun Belt play with the win, while Georgia Southern falls to 8-5 overall and 0-2 in the league. The Eagles will hit the road for a pair of Sun Belt matches next week, beginning with an 11 a.m. matchup at ULM on Friday, March 21, in Monroe, La.
Coastal Carolina earned a doubles win at No. 1, while Franzi Heinemann and Hannah Eifert picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. The Chanticleers then took the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, the Eagles tied the match up at 1-all thanks to Nanaka Kijima's 6-4, 6-1 win over Sarah Clark at No. 6 singles.
But Coastal Carolina would earn the victory with a pair of straight-set singles wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, as well as a three-set singles win at No. 4 singles.
