
Shatalya Dorsett Named 2025 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year

Three Eagles Named to All-SBC
NEW ORLEANS – Sophomore Shatalya Dorsett was named Sun Belt Women's Track Newcomer of the Year as announced by the Sun Belt Conference on Friday afternoon. The award was voted on by head coaches of the Sun Belt Conference track and field programs and is the first Eagle to garner the award.
Dorsett claimed the 60m dash at the Sun Belt championships with a new personal best and school record time of 7.33. The sophomore took fifth at the championships in the 200m and holds the fifth fastest time in the Sun Belt. Dorsett's 23.56 new personal best in the 200m moved her into third all-time in program history. The freshman placed inside the top three in the 60m in every meet this season. Dorsett also picked up first team All-Sun Belt Honors.
Imani Moore was named first team all-conference after taking home her first conference title securing the win in the long jump at the conference championship with a mark of 6.22m. In the triple jump, Moore took third place with a mark of 12.70m.
NaJ Watson earned second-team All-Sun Belt as she took second place in the 200m at the Sun Bet Championships tying her personal best mark of 23.38. In the 60m, Watson placed third tying her personal best time of 7.36.
