Moore, Watson Set School Records at Bob Pollock Invitational

Three school records broken at meet

CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior Imani Moore and junior NaJ Watson set three new indoor records as the Georgia Southern track and field team wrapped up the Bob Pollock Invitational at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday.

Moore set a new indoor school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.25m. Her final jump of the meet etched her name atop the record book surpassing an 18-year old record previously held by Nicole Brown (2007). Moore continued her success setting a new school record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.82m surpassing the mark of 12.76m previously held by Nicole Brown (2007.) The senior took first place in the long jump and second place in the triple jump.

Watson set a new indoor 60m record with a time of 7.36 surpassing her own record set last season of 7.39. Shatalya Dorsett followed with a time of 7.37 in the 60m to take third place at the meet and move into second on the all-time list. Additionally, Dorsett improved her 200m time to 24.07.

Kennedy Hood improved her long jump mark to 6.09m which is still good for fourth all-time.

Leonaya Knox ran a time of 8.65 in the 60m hurdles to tie for fourth all-time in the Georgia Southern record books.

Emily Wheldon still holds the fourth fastest time in the 3000m with a time of 10:19.23.

Jayla Lawrence secured a new personal best in the 200m with a time of 24.83.

"We had a tremendous meet this weekend with a number of new personal bests." said head coach David Neville. "I'm really happy with the competitive level we exemplified this weekend at Clemson. Even though we were competing against some top programs in the country we rose to the occasion. Imani Moore had a lights out weekend breaking two long standing school records. And Naj Watson set a new school record in the 60m dash. I believe we are in a good place going into the last few weeks of the indoor season."
