OJ Arnold Honored By Sun Belt

Senior recognized for play against Coastal Carolina

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern running running back OJ Arnold was honored by the Sun Belt Monday for his play against Coastal Carolina, earning conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week - OJ Arnold, Georgia Southern
Arnold made history as he became the first Eagle to card a rushing, receiving and passing touchdown in the same game, as he rushed for 267 yards and two scores on 21 carries (12.7 ypc) as Georgia Southern downed Coastal Carolina 45-40 at home. He also caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown and threw a 73-yard touchdown strike to Brown. His 393 total yards are the most for an Eagle running back since 2021. Arnold graded out at 89.6 for the game on offense, including an FBS-high 91.1 in the run game by PFF, forcing six missed tackles and gaining 59 yards after contact after tallying three rushes of 50 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week - Kris Trinidad, Old Dominion
Kris Trinidad led the ODU defense with a pair of sacks, five tackles and two forced fumbles in the 33-0 win over Troy. On Troy's first offensive play of the game, Trinidad forced a fumble that ODU turned into a touchdown for an early 7-0 lead. He later forced a second fumble. Trinidad led ODU's sack party with a school record nine sacks and the second shutout in school history, and first since 2017.

Special Teams Player of the Week - Braeden McAlister, Georgia State
McAlister kicked a 60-yard field goal to tie the SBC record for longest field goal, mark the longest Sun Belt field goal this season, break the GSU program record and hit the second-longest FG in the NCAA this season.
