Second Leg Of 2024-25 MAC/SBC Challenge Matchups Announced

Men travel to Western Michigan; Women host Akron on February 8

STATESBORO - The matchups for the second leg of the 2024-25 MAC/SBC Challenge for Georgia Southern men's and women's basketball, which will be played on Saturday, Feb. 8, were announced today by league officials.

Georgia Southern men's basketball will travel to Western Michigan University to play a 1 p.m. contest against the Broncos, while women's basketball will host Akron in a 1 p.m. matchup at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.

This is the second year of the MAC/SBC challenge - a scheduling alliance between the two leagues. Earlier this year in the first leg, Georgia Southern women's basketball defeated Ohio, 82-70, in new head coach Hana Haden's Eagle debut. On the men's side, the Eagles defeated NIU, 80-65.

The women's matchup against Akron will be the third in program history and the first since 2010. The two teams have split a pair of neutral-site matchups with the Eagles taking an 85-61 victory on December 12, 1987, in Huntington, W. Va. Akron won a 94-81 overtime decision on November 26, 2010, in Dallas.

Men's basketball faces Western Michigan for the second time in program history. The Eagles defeated the Broncos, 63-57, on November 20, 2022, in Houston in their previous meeting.

Tickets for the women's game were included in the 2024-25 season ticket package. Single-game tickets may be purchased at GSEagles.com/Tickets.
