Eagles Post Record-Setting Year in the Classroom

Department posts record GPA for school year and semester

STATESBORO - The over 450 student-athletes who make up the Georgia Southern Athletics Department earned a department-record 3.18 GPA for the 2024-2025 academic year, as announced Friday by director of athletics Chris Davis. This GPA ties the 3.18 mark set last year. The student-athletes at Georgia Southern have earned a 3.00 or higher for the academic year in nine of the past 10 years. The student-athletes also combined to post a 3.21 GPA for the Spring 2025 semester.

For the semester, women's tennis posted the highest team GPA for the department with a 3.72 and men's soccer had the highest team GPA on the men's side with a 3.42. Football recorded its highest semester GPA and the highest for an academic year, while the men's teams combined for a record-high GPA for a semester and academic year. The rifle squad posted its highest academic year GPA (3.65) to earn the highest GPA in the department while the men's tennis team had the high men's GPA for the year with a 3.47.

Overall, 265 student-athletes earned a place on the honor roll (3.0 or higher). Of that group, 87 made the Dean's List (3.50-3.99) and 64 made the President's List for earning a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

Eleven of the 15 programs earned a 3.0 or higher for the spring semester.

• Men's Soccer: 3.42 (9th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Men's Tennis: 3.30 (27th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Rifle: 3.61 (12th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Softball: 3.61 (30th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Volleyball: 3.34 (32nd consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Women's Soccer: 3.51 (15th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Women's Swimming & Diving: 3.53 (36th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Women's Track and Field: 3.47 (10th consecutive semester with 3.0 or higher)
• Women's Tennis: 3.72 (41st consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
