Box Score TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 9-ranked Florida State men's tennis handed Georgia Southern its first loss of the young 2025 Spring season with a 4-0 victory over the Eagles on Sunday in Tallahassee.
Florida State improves to 3-0 on the year with the victory, while Georgia Southern falls to 2-1. The Eagles will face a second straight nationally-ranked opponent in their next action, visiting No. 24 Florida on Monday, January 20, for an 11 a.m. match in Gainesville.
The Seminoles were able to take the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles over the Eagles. In singles action, Florida State won all of the first sets, then concluded the win with wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The win was the 23rd straight for the Seminoles in the series, dating back to 1983.
"It felt great to get out and compete as a team again for the first time in 9 months," Georgia Southern head men's tennis coach Andrew Goodwin said about the season-opening weekend in Tallahassee. "We're excited to keep building our toughness and resilience as a team. And can't wait to get our next opportunity next week at Florida."
