NaJ Watson, Alanna Smith and Imani Moore will head to Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky.– Three Georgia Southern track & field team members are headed to Lexington for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Outdoor Championships to compete in the preliminary rounds from May 23-25.
"I'm excited for our ladies to compete at the NCAA Preliminary meet in Lexington," head coach David Neville said. "They have had an extremely successful year and I believe they will do great next week. As a coaching staff, we are continuing to move this program forward – last year, we only took one athlete, and this year, we took three."
NaJ Watson (200m), Alanna Smith (400m) and Imani Moore (long jump) will all be competing in this year's regionals.
Watson returns to the NCAA Championships and will compete in the 200m for the second straight year, finishing 37th in Jacksonville at 23.57. She qualified after winning the 200m race at the Sun Belt Championships.
Smith and Moore will make their first-ever appearances at the NCAA Championships. Smith qualified for the 400m after finishing fourth in that event during the SBC Championships, and Moore placed third in the long jump to earn a berth.
This is the first time the Eagles have had multiple qualifiers since 2021.
