Warhawks Outlast Eagles 3-2 In Extras

Road swing continues at South Alabama

MONROE, La. – ULM outlasted Georgia Southern softball 3-2 in ten innings on Sunday afternoon at ULM Softball Complex. The Eagles move to 20-16 overall and 4-8 in the Sun Belt Conference. 

Morgan Kendrick shined in her second career start tossing a career high nine complete innings allowing three runs (one unearned) on four hits with three strikeouts. 

For the third time this series, Georgia Southern got on the board first scoring a pair of runs in the third for an early 2-0 lead. Emma Davis and Katie Perkins recorded back-to-back singles before a Warhawk error loaded the bases. Jess Mazur drove in the first run of the game on an RBI-single up the middle to score Davis before Janai Conklin followed with an RBI-double for the second run. 

The Warhawks responded in the bottom of the third after a leadoff double, ULM capitalized off an Eagle error to cut into the deficit 1-0. 

In the bottom of the seventh, the Warhawks evened the score after the leadoff batter reached on an error and advanced to second, an RBI-foul out plated the tying run to send the game to extra innings.

An RBI fielder's choice scored the winning run for ULM in the tenth inning to take game three and sweep the series. 

Bailey Holland picked up the loss in the cirlce after coming into relief in the tenth and moves to 5-6 on the season.

The Eagles' conference road swing continues next weekend against South Alabama for a three-game series. First pitch from Jaguar Field is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12 and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
