Eagles look to avoid sweep on Sunday at Noon

MONROE, La. – The Georgia Southern softball team (20-15, 4-7 SBC) dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday afternoon, 2-1, against ULM at ULM Softball Complex. With a 1-0 Eagle lead in the bottom of the seventh, the Warhawks rallied to score two runs for the final score, 2-1.

For the second straight game, Georgia Southern struck first to jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Gracie Bellard reached on an infield single then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt before scoring on a Warhawk error.

ULM rallied in the seventh to walk it off for the final score 2-1. The Warhawks worked the bases loaded and tied things up on an Eagle error before an RBI-single walked it off to take the series.

Alana Barnard recorded the loss to move to 4-3 on the season. Barnard tossed 6.1 innings allowing two runs (one unearned) on four hits with four strikeouts.

Offensively, five Eagles recorded a hit in the contest.
