HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Georgia Southern baseball team fell 9-1 to the James Madison Dukes on Saturday night at Eagle Field at Veteran's Memorial Park.
Georgia Southern (19-19, 9-8 SBC) landed the first jab in the top of the second when
T.J. McKenzie launched his second homer of the season to left-center, putting the Eagles ahead 1-0 early.
The Dukes (23-15, 9-8 SBC) would respond with three runs in the bottom half of the second inning and two more in the bottom of te third, taking a 5-1 lead into the middle three innings of the game.
A bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fourth, a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth, and a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning pulled the Dukes further ahead, taking a 9-1 lead heading into the late stages of the game, which would be the eventual final for the contest.
Ty Fisher was notched with the loss in the contest after three innings of work, while Jonovan Burke was marked with the victory.
McKenzie had his best performance as an Eagle with a 3-for-3 night, the aforementioned home run and two singles.
Sam Blancato also ended the night with two hits, a double and a single.
