Brycen Jones Honored By Sun Belt

Freshman earns player of the week honors
STATESBORO - Freshman Brycen Jones of the Georgia Southern men's golf team was honored as the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week Thursday for his play this past week. It's the first honor for the Thomasville, Georgia, native.
Jones shot a 65-70-69 (204) to finish 12 under par to take medalist honors in a stacked field at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, South Carolina. In a field of 84 players, Jones played the par fours at -5 for the week which tied for second in the tournament, while also placing second with 15 birdies. His 204 is tied for the 19th-lowest three-round tournament total in program history. Additionally, Jones' 65-stroke first round is tied for the 15th lowest round in program history. Behind his effort, the Eagles posted a team-best 832 (-32) three-round total to hold off Chattanooga by two shots for the victory.
The Eagles will be back in action next weekend, hosting the 44th Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro.
