
Men’s Golf Start Strong at 46th Schenkel Invitational

The Eagles tee off at 10:30 a.m. in tomorrow’s second round
STATESBORO – Paced by four players shooting 70 or below from the scoring team, Georgia Southern shot a 278 (-10) in the first round of the 46th playing of the Schenkel Invitational Friday at Forest Heights Country Club to take the lead after the first day.
The Eagles sit in first place after one round, leading Yale and #26 Utah by three strokes.
Thomas Horne shot a 5-under-par 67 and senior Parker Claxton shot a 68, finishing with four consecutive birdies, to help pave the way. Harrison Sewell shot a 71, Trace Carter shot a 72 and Morgan Blythe shot a 74 for the scoring team. The other three individuals playing are Elijah Zamarron (70), Ian Glanton (76), and Edouard Cereto (81).
Notre Dame's Rocco Salvitti shot a 64 to lead the way at -8. He holds a two-shot lead over Miami's Liam Nelson
Admission is free, and spectators are welcome.

The second round is slated for Saturday starting at 9 a.m., and the third and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The trophy ceremony is expected to be at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
