STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern abseball team will take on the Georgia Bulldogs of the SEC in neutral-site action on Tuesday, March 5, at SRP Park in North Augusta, S.C. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
The Eagles come into the game with a 4-7 overall record, after dropping the previous weekend's series to the then-21st ranked Campbell Camels in Statesboro. Georgia Southern took the first game with a 9-4 decisive victory before dropping Saturday's game, 10-7, then dropping Sunday's game, 10-5. Georgia arrives to North Augusta with a 10-1 record after taking two games from Georgia Tech on Saturday and Sunday. UGA and Tech's game on Friday was suspended due to weather, but UGA led 9-3 when the postponement happened. Georgia's lone loss is a 19-6 home loss to Michigan State.
Southern's record against Georgia all-time is 57-64-1. The series has been mostly even, with the Eagles taking a slight edge in the previous 10 years, with Southern leading the last 10 years 15-14.
Last season, the Bulldogs took two of three from Georgia Southern, including winning the neutral-site game 17-11. Georgia Southern knocked off Georgia in Athens by a score of 12-2, which was highlighted by a 4-for-5 night by
Jarrett Brown and a grand slam by
Luke Hatcher.
The Eagles have played the Bulldogs a total of 122 times, making Georgia the Eagles' fifth-most played opponent in program history.
The Eagles will send out RHP
Cameron Oliu to start the contest, while Georgia will send out southpaw Jarvis Evans.
