ATHENS – Fifth-ranked Georgia used a trio of big innings to pick up a 17-1 win over Georgia Southern on Wednesday in midweek action at Jack Turner Softball Stadium.
After the loss, Georgia Southern moves to 17-10 on the season. The Eagles return home to Beautiful Eagle Field for an eight game homestand beginning Friday against conference opponent Georgia State. First pitch of game one is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Emma Davis led off the game with a single up the middle and
Delanie Thames drew a hit by pitch in the first but that was all for the Eagles in the inning.
The Bulldogs put up three runs in the first to take a 3-0 lead. A double and a two-run home run accounted for the three runs in the frame. Georgia used six-run second inning and eight-run fourth inning to extend its lead for the final margin, 17-1.
Faith Barth recorded an RBI-sacrifice fly in the fifth to get the Eagles on the board.

Katie Perkins each recorded a hit for two of the Eagles three hits.
Makayla Brantley recorded her first career hit in an Eagle uniform to bring the total number of hits to three on the evening.
