
Wells Wraps Up Competition in NCAA Zone B Diving Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Southern sophomore diver Karlee Wells finished her time at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships Monday evening from the Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia.
During zone competition, the top 18 competitors in the preliminary rounds move onto the finals later that day. After finals, those who placed in the top 10 in the 1M and in the top eight in 3M are slated to return to Bauerle Pool next week to compete in the NCAA Championships.
On Sunday afternoon, Wells competed in the one-meter dive, where she set a new personal best with a score of 297.68 during the Emory Invitational. In the preliminary round, she scored 214.50, placing 42nd and falling short of the qualifying cut to move onto the final round of the one-meter dive.
On Monday, Wells went on to compete in the three-meter dive, where she scored a 319.05 during the Liberty TYR '85 Invitational, etching her name in the school record books with the highest 3M score in program history. In Athens, Wells scored 239.15, placing 38th and missing the qualifying cut for the finals.

The 800 Free Relay team of Zuri Clavo, Jamison Tiller, Carsyn Cosman, and Chiara Alberti are set to compete in the National Invitational Championship at the end of the week. The relay team qualified with a time of 7:24.84, a new school record set during the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Orlando, Fla.
