The final events for Eagles swimming take place on Friday, March 15
STATESBORO - The 800 Free Relay team consisting of Zuri Clavo, Jamison Tiller, Carsyn Cosman, and Chiara Alberti, along with several other Eagle swimmers will compete in the CSCAA National Invitational Championship this weekend in Ocala, Florida.
Clavo, Tiller, Cosman, and Alberti qualified for the NIC when the quartet finished the 800 Free Relay during the Sun Belt Championship with a time of 7:24.84, falling below the qualifiying time for an automatic bid to the NIC. The previous school record of 7:26.10 set by Kylee Parsons, Kaylyn Thomas, Rachel Pelzek, and Mykala Arnold was set back in 2016.
Two other relay teams will be taking part in the NIC this weekend, including the 200 Free Relay team consisting of Cosman, Tiller, Alberti, and Logan Belanger, along with the 400 Medley Relay team consisting of Emma Scruggs, Ieva Evaltaite, Madlen Wendland, and Alberti.
In indivudual competition, Clavo will represent the Eagles in the 400 IM, Scruggs will represent the Eagles in the 200 Back, and Wendland will represent the Eagles in the 200 Fly.
This is the first time since 2019 that the Eagles will send competitors to the NIC. That year, Anna Moers represented Georgia Southern, where she competed in the 50 Backstroke, the 200 Backstroke, the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Individual Medley
This is the first CSCAA bid for the Eagles since 2021. In 2021, Emma Sutton, Zuri Clavo, Madie Banks and Grace Drawdy took part in the CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Swimming Championships.
