
Eagles Turn in Strong Performances at Osprey Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Georgia Southern swim and dive wrapped up competition at the Osprey Invite, hosted by the University of North Florida, on Saturday, Oct. 10, highlighted by a historic performance from first-year Morgan Ruebusch.Â
Ruebusch etched her name in the Georgia Southern record book, clocking a 56.49 in the 100-yard butterfly to become the 10th-fastest performer in program history. She also recorded a personal best in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 25.87.
The Eagles collected several other personal bests throughout the meet.Â
Aixa Recchioni posted a personal-best time of 23.90 in the 50-yard freestyle, while Calissa Kissinger recorded a personal best in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:51.07. Parker Bach added a personal best of 27.16 in the 50-yard backstroke.
She also contributed to the Eagles' relay efforts throughout the meet, helping Georgia Southern's A team finish second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.74 alongside Alex Pope, Elle Mettler and Recchioni.
The Eagles recorded several other strong individual performances throughout the two-day competition.Â
Allison Funge earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:05.56, while Victoria Santino placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.88.Â
Bethel transfer Recchioni added a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a 23.90 and third in the 100-yard freestyle (52.35), and Ruebusch finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.52.
Georgia Southern continued to show depth across multiple events, with Julianna Drake and Grace Brunk finishing seventh and 10th, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly.Â
Bach and Allie Byerly also recorded top-eight finishes in the 100-yard butterfly, touching in 1:00.35 and 1:00.47, respectively.
The Eagles finished third overall in the team standings with 107 points, behind Arkansas-Little Rock (378) and North Florida (274.5).
Georgia Southern will look to build on its performances at the Osprey Invite as the season continues.
