ORLANDO, Fla. - The Georgia Southern swimming and diving team concluded the 2023-24 season with a third place finish in the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Saturday night at the Rosen Aquatic Center.
Saturday's action started with another round of preliminaries in the morning, where
Emma Scruggs and
Madie Banks started in the 200 Back. Scruggs set a new season best of 2:01.76 with Banks finishing with a time of 2:13.04.
In the 100 Free prelims, all four swimmers set new season bests, with Chiara Albert finishing in sixth with a time of 51.46.
Carsyn Cosman finished just under half a second behind with a time of 51.90, and
Abby Wenham finished with a time of 52.13.
Emma Sutton rounded out the Eagles with a time of 52.28.
In the 200 Breast prelims,
Ieva Evaltaite set a new season best with a time of 2:19.48, as did
Avery Sargeant with a time of 2:22.38.
Logan Belanger also set a new season best of 2:23.36.
In the 200 Fly prelims,
Hannah Merrill led the charge for the Eagles with her new season best of 2:03.77.
Jenna Maloy followed close behind with her new season best of 2:05.48, along with
Grace Drawdy and her season best of 2:07.11.
Lilly Kasra rounded out the Eagles in the event, setting a new season best of 2:08.34.
The first finals event of the night was the 1650 Free, where
Zuri Clavo was the first Eagle to finish with a time of 17:19.09.
Montgomery Dampier finished with a new personal best time of 17:23.97, and Banks set a new personal best of 18:07.43.
In the 200 Back finals, Scruggs finished in fourth place and set a new season best with a time of 2:01.37, along with Banks, who set a new season best of 2:12.36.
In the 100 Free finals, Cosman was the first Eagle on the board, finishing in sixth place with a final time of 51.18. Alberti was less than a second behind with a final time of 51.79, and Wenham set her season best of 52.00.
In the 200 Breast finals, Evaltaite again set a personal best with a time of 2:18.59, claiming fourth place in the event. Sargeant finished in seventh place with a time of 222.79, and Belanger set a new season best with a time of 2:21.91.
For the 200 Fly finals, Wendland claimed fourth place with a season best time of 2:03.14, and Merrill set her new season best with a time of 2:03.56 in sixth place. Maloy finished in seventh place with a season best of 2:06.77.
The night was capped off with the 400 Free Relay final, where the relay team of Alberti, Wenham, Sutton, and Cosman finished in third place with a final time of 3:26.99.
