Quickly: Georgia Southern opens up Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday, hosting Louisiana at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center ... The Eagles enter the contest with a 7-5 mark, the fifth straight year that Georgia Southern heads into Sun Belt play sporting a winning record in non-conference action ... Fifth-year senior Leah Johnson excelled for the Eagles in their last action, averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds in three games at the GCU Christmas Classic in Phoenix. For her efforts, she was named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week on December 24 ... Louisiana is 4-5 on the season. The Ragin' Cajuns were in action on Friday, hosting in-state school Dillard in an exhibition contest. Louisiana won by a 63-43 score ... Louisiana leads the overall series between the two teams, 13-3. All of the meetings have come since the Eagles joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2014-15 ... The Ragin' Cajuns have won five straight in the series, including last season's 62-57 win in Lafayette ... All three of the Eagles' wins over Louisiana have come in Statesboro. The last win by Georgia Southern over the Ragin' Cajuns came on January 4, 2020, an 83-67 win in Hanner Fieldhouse.
