Barth, Barrett Each Tabbed Sun Belt Players of the Week

Barth hit .427 and led the conference in kills per set, aces and points per set, Barrett continued to pace the conference in assists per set

STATESBORO- Reagan Barth (Offensive) and Kirsten Barrett (Setter) received weekly honors from the Sun Belt, the league announced on Tuesday.

Barth was all over the scoresheet for the Eagles in their 2-0 weekend, leading the team with 38 kills and hitting a scorching .427 (38-6-75) in the two matches.

She recorded 18 kills on Thursday and followed with her first 20-kill effort of the season on Friday, also recording 12 digs in each of the two games, becoming the first Eagle to have consecutive double-doubles this season.

Barth placed 1st in the conference in kills per set (6.33), 2nd in kills (38), 1st in aces (8, including a career-high six in game one), 1st in points per set (8.00), 1st in aces per set (1.33) and fourth in digs per set (5.17) as the Eagles stretched their win streak to 11 and set win streak to 25. Her 25.5 points were tied for a season-high by any Eagle.

Barrett continued her dominance at the setter position this season for Georgia Southern, recording 30+ assists in both Eagles' sweeps at Marshall, averaging 12.00 assists per set to lead the SBC during the weekend.

She recorded 39 in the first game and 33 in the second game, her eighth and ninth time doing so this season. Her 72 assists were second in the conference, also adding three kills and a pair of blocks as the Eagles improved to 12-1, still leading the conference in assists per set.

Barrett has earned her third Setter of the Week honors this season, also doing so in weeks two and three, becoming the second Eagle to win it three times this season, joining Ashlyn Lovett.

The Eagles now have eight total POTW awards for the first time ever, breaking the previous team mark of seven in 2010 and four different players to earn a weekly award for the first time since that same season.

The Eagles take on Troy for two pivotal Sun Belt matchups beginning on Thursday.
