
The Eagles Comes Up Short in Battle Against Panthers

ATLANTA – Georgia Southern (18-6, 9-4 SBC) fell to Georgia State, 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 30-28, 26-24), Friday evening at the GSU Sports Arena.
The tightly contested Sun Belt matchup featured 38 ties and 15 lead changes as both teams battled through four sets.
Reagan Barth led the Eagles, who notched 22 kills and added nine digs, while hitting .304. Sam Bowron followed with 13 kills and 14 digs for a double-double performance, and Lydia Seymour contributed eight kills with a .615 hitting percentage.
Setter Kirsten Barrett directed the attack with 46 assists and 12 digs, while libero Maddie Cugino anchored the defense with a team-high 17 digs.
Georgia State was paced by Alessia Cappai's 19 kills on .368 hitting and Akira Burt's 16 kills. Setter Shanelle Martinez posted 32 assists and 12 digs, while libero Marta Lazzarin collected 27 digs.
The Panthers outlasted the Eagles in two extra-point sets, taking the third 30–28 and the fourth 26–24 to seal the victory.
Georgia Southern will look to bounce back in its next match, while Georgia State (15-9, 6-7 SBC) extends its home record with the win.
