
Georgia Southern Drops Hard-Fought Match in Atlanta

ATLANTA – Georgia Southern (18-7, 9-5 SBC) dropped a four-set battle to Georgia State (16-9, 7-7 SBC) on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena, falling 3-1 (29-27, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18).
Despite strong offensive performances, the Eagles couldn't overcome the Panthers' late-set execution.
Reagan Barth led the attack with 23 kills and 22 digs, recording her ninth double-double of the season. Lydia Seymour added 10 kills and four blocks, while Sam Bowron chipped in 12 kills of her own. Setter Kirsten Barrett guided the offense with 43 assists and two service aces .
Defensively, Mayte Camacho anchored the back row with 23 digs, while Maddie Cugino's 1 contributed to the team's 90 total digs on the afternoon.
Georgia Southern hit .219 as a team, including a .295 mark in the third set to extend the match. However, Georgia State's balanced attack proved decisive, with three players finishing in double-digit kills and the team hitting .246 overall.
The Eagles return home for the last series of the regular season against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (14-10, 6-8 SBC).
